The Moon is the most important heavenly body to witches. We draw on her power for lunar magic.
We cast our spells in accord with her cycles. She inspires and illuminates us. There are moon gods,
but the Moon has always been perceived as female. The Moon is cyclical, like women. We menstruate with her.
She mirrors the stages of our lives: "Maiden", "Mother" and "Crone". She is Changing Woman, as are we. As the Wheel of the Moon continues on its never ending course, the moon also travels through the different
astrological signs, just as the sun does, only more rapidly. When the moon resides within the various signs, that sign
influences the magical aspect of the moon.
The Moon is the astronomical body closest to us and, therefore, she has a profound influence upon us.
The highest energy occurs at the Full Moon and, therefore, this is the most powerful time for magical workings.
The New Moon is the next most powerful time for Magic. I hope you find the information on this page helpful in your Moon Working's

People have been planting by the moon's phases for centuries, in the belief that
something in the lunar light or gravity affects the way plants grow.
Tonic waters containing the energies of the moon embody very powerful healing benefits that bring about integral balance and wholeness throughout the body, mind and soul. Clear quartz crystal catalyzes the absorption of lunar energies as well as amplifies the healing benefits.
To Prepare Moon Water
1. Wait for a clear night, preferably on or right before the full moon. put your crystal in a clear glass and cover with one cup of purified water.
2. Check an almanac for the exact time of sundown on the day you have chosen. At sundown, place the glass out of doors in a moonlit place (cover the glass with clear plastic wrap).
3. Remove the glass at dawn. The water is now filled with lunar potency. Drink the moon water every morning to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the stress of the day.

"Pray to the Moon, when She is rounde,
~ traditional Wiccan rhyme
The New Moon always rises at sunrise.
And the first quarter at noon.
The Full Moon always rises at sunset.
And the last quarter at midnight.
Moonrise takes place about 50 minutes later each day than the day before.
The new moon can not be seen because the illuminated side faces away from
the earth. This occurs when the Moon lines up between the Earth and the Sun.
What could be more -enchanted- than to cultivate your own Moon Garden. Honoring the -Silver- Goddess in all her glory with a fragrant & luminous evening garden. A wonderful offering which you will benefit from as well. Many night-blooming flowers are white and rely on strong fragrance, rather than bright colors, to attract insects. Plant night-bloomers near a bedroom window, where the breeze can carry the fragrance indoors right into your dreams.
Plant some in a circle to mimic the Moon, they look terrific alongside silver-foliaged Lambs ears and Artemisia. Illuminated only by moonlight, pale flowers and foliage add a dreamy, ethereal feeling. You don’t need to have a big space, potted plants work too, just remember to add a trellis or place where viney plants can grow onto, as, unless they feel secure they will not bloom.
You can save and dry flowers to use in Amulets, Talismans or -dress- a Moon candle. Add fresh flowers to a -special- oil you have fashioned on the Full Moon or to water for magical workings.
Press flowers and leaves into a -Book of Shadows- or make magical bookmarks for special journals. Following a Moon planting calendar will add a magical touch and keep you in the flow of her cycles. You can place Moonstones and or Crystals in the dirt of these -pale- beauties to energize them for meditations and spells. Don’t forget when you take from a plant, to ask it’s permission and give thanks, an offering of water of food (plant) is a perfect -Thank you-.

Pay closer attention to the Moon’s influence on you by starting a Moon diary. Select a blank book with white paper. Find out what phase the Moon is in, note it down, and write a few words about your experiences and impressions on that day. Feel free to sketch and doodle to honor your inner inspirational Moon muse. Know that as you express yourself, words are sacred to Thoth, the Egyptian lunar god of knowledge and writing. As you keep this lunar diary through the months, you may discover interesting patterns and important spiritual information.

A Witch's Magical Herbal
There are many herbs that can be used for magical purposes; I've chosen to list only those that could be found
in an ordinary kitchen or can be easily found at a grocery store or nursery. I live in an apartment, but I was
able to make a small herb garden that sits outside on my balcony. Herbs are wonderful and powerful addition to magic - they can be
burned or tied up in sachets or made into amulets to wear.
* Anise: purification, protection, keeps away nightmares.
